STACK the Flags – An Online, Jeopardy! Style Capture-the-Flag (CTF) Competition

Overview

STACK the Flags is an online, jeopardy! style Capture-the-Flag (CTF) competition organised by GovTech’s Cyber Security Group (CSG). It aims to engage the tech community and is open to everyone, except for employees of GovTech or officers that are seconded to GovTech.

The competition comprises three categories, as shown below. For more information on the categorisation of participants, refer to this link.

• Open.
• Universities and polytechnics.
• Junior Colleges (JCs), Integrated Programmes (IPs) and Institutes of Technical Education (ITEs).

Why Should You Participate in STACK the Flags?

Winners of the competition stand a chance to win attractive prizes. Top prizes for each category range from $15,000 to $2,000. Additional rewards include:

Coins of Honour Every member of the top 10 teams from each category will be awarded STACK the Flags collaterals. This includes Stack the Flags CTF C01N (an Espressif ESP32 powered board for hacking) and a certificate.

Mastery Awards Eight Mastery Awards will be given away to teams that display outstanding performances within specific domains. Each award has an associated cash prize and the most outstanding teams across all participation categories will vie for the awards by being the first to complete the defined prerequisites in the shortest possible time.

Awesome Write-Ups Prizes Cash awards will be provided to the best write-ups of the specified challenges. Winners for the top prizes in each category will attend a video conferencing session to understand their STACK the Flags experience and gather their feedback. How Do You Participate in STACK the Flags?

To participate in STACK the Flags, form a team of up to four members with at least one Singaporean/Permanent Resident. Participants have to seek consent from a parent or guardian if they are below 18 years old on the date of the competition For participants who are below 18 years old at the date of the competition, consent from a parent or guardian is required. Teams that fail to meet the necessary requirements will be automatically disqualified from the competition.
